pedestal tables and a kitchen that needs some love

As I was cleaning my kitchen today I couldn't help but notice how horrible my kitchen and dining area look. It's not a big area and so you would think I would be able to do something with it and make it look pretty. But apparently not! Everything I do to it never comes out right. It's kind of depressing.

Here is my kitchen/dining room right now...

I know that it's not that bad and could be a whole lot worse, but when I think of my kitchen I think of someplace that is light and bright. Someplace I won't mind sitting for hours and blogging or drinking coffee. Someplace that makes people say "I love your kitchen". I also needed something that looked great with white appliances because that is what I have and can't justify replacing perfectly good ones (well except for the stove with the front glass that kind of fell off...). So naturally I started looking for some inspiration on Pinterest.

I had to add this kitchen at the top. I fell in love with it the moment that I saw it! I know that my kitchen differs from this one in several ways, but I can so see my kitchen looking like this. I love it!!

There is also this wonderful kitchen from Flower Patch Farmgirl.
Didn't she do a wonderful job? Her curtains are even made from old napkins!

This next one I found on Pinterest but could not find an original source. I really like the open cabinets as well as the chalkboard. Great for kids. And that farmhouse sink! LOVE!

Now when it comes to the dining room my table desperately needs to be refinished and my chairs need to be painted. But I will get to that eventually. Someday. Right now I am trying to figure out what I am going to do with the space. With it being so small it poses the challenge of making it functional and pretty.

I really like bench here. It adds something different and gives you one extra seat. I'm just not sure how it would look in my kitchen. My light is placed a little further out and I don't know if I could make the bench work if it were not flush up against a wall.

This one here is my favorite. My table looks almost exactly like this one. You know when it is refinished and all. But what I like most about it is that they left the table it's natural color. Which is exactly what I want to do! Seeing this makes me want to go refinish my table now!

I also took this screen shot of my latest issue of Country Living Magazine
I am in love with this little dining nook!

easter inspiration

I can't believe that Easter is in two weeks

Can you?

This year has flown by so much faster than I have realized so I am a little sad today. Spring will be here in like two days and then everything is going to just start rolling. Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and so on. I'm not ready! I am still trying to get all my winter stuff put up and things ready for all this warmer weather we have been having.

Since I have done nothing Easter related all month I thought that I would post some Easter inspiration that I found this morning on Pinterest :)

san antonio mini spring break: heading home

Monday was our last day of vacation. *sniffle sniffle*

I was so sad that we had to pack up and leave. I really enjoy spending time with my boys. And I love it that Mike gets to do thing with us since he works so much while we are at home.

We were on the road pretty early since people had to be at work the next day and Mike was still feeling ill. Poor guy. He was awesome the whole weekend even though he was sick.

Road trippin it west...

We stopped for lunch in Ozona and they had a Sonic you could go inside and eat. It was very weird.

But I got a vanilla dr. pepper to enjoy on the rest of the trip :)

And that is the end of my vacation posts. I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Thanks for looking through oodles and oodles of pics!

san antonio mini spring break: day three

Are you all sick of hearing about my travels yet?

No!

Good to hear!

Today I get to tell you all about day three and in a separate post will be the last day :(

Sunday was one of the best days of our vacation. The weather was perfect. So perfect in fact that we didn't even need jackets to walk the 3 miles that we walked. Man I love Texas in the springtime!

We waited at lots and lots of crosswalks along the way...

I am not sure what building this is but I am in love with this photo!

The Texas flag against the morning sky.... it is just beautiful!

Which way do we go?

I had to take a picture in front of the Alamo.
We do it every time we are in San Antonio. It's kind of like tradition now.

The Alamo all by itself.
They had re-enactments while we were there. They had a Mexican army, shot canons and had live music. It was really interesting.

For lunch we headed to the Rainforest Cafe...

Where I had a flashy pink drink

My boys being silly!

After lunch our friends headed back to the hotel to put their kiddos down for a nap, we on the other hand went to the wax museums.

This Dr. Phil is really creepy!

After the wax museums we walked back down to the river.

Do you see a pattern?

I LOVE THE RIVER WALK!

Anyhoo, we found a little bar in a back corner called Crazy Sam's. I have to say it was the coolest bar I had been to in years! They played good music, had games for the kids and they served popcorn with their beer. And they had beer to go! I will definitely go back my next time in San Antonio.

That night we went to a place called Perry's Steakhouse for dinner. It was a little out of the way and SUPER fancy. Here we come walking in with five kids. I was a little scared I won't lie.

This place was so fancy that there was a valet, and sitting there was a Bentley! I panicked just a little. We had a talk with the kids about behavior and sat down for dinner. Which was fantastic!

So if you are ever in San Antonio you must try Perry's.

san antonio mini spring break: day two

Good Morning!

Saturday started out day two of our trip. This was our view from the hotel balcony. I know it wasn't white sand beaches, but I have to say it wasn't too shabby. That is the Tower of America in case you wanted to know :)

The one thing that I love about vacation is breakfast. But not just breakfast... but breakfast with my husband! See the thing is on every other morning he leaves before daybreak and we never have a chance to eat breakfast together. Except on vacation. It is also the thing I miss the most when we come home. Well, that and not having to clean up the mess after breakfast.

After breakfast we all piled into our cars and headed for the San Antonio Zoo!

With a little rain along the way...

Tyler annoying this poor kitty cat

One of my favorite pictures!

Mama and her boys

Icee break!

Love having family pics taken.
I think it's wonderful to see how much the boys grow from year to year.

Fun family photo in the car...

After the Zoo we went to Dave and Busters for lunch.

I followed Tyler around since he was smaller. Jacob ran off on his own and stayed gone the entire time only coming back for more money. He is so my kid!

Between both of the boys we collected 2200 tickets.

Later that night we walked down to the river again for dinner. I have to say that it was way funner (is that even a word?) to walk everywhere. I like driving don't get me wrong, but I would love to live someplace that I could ride a bike or walk and be able to take wonderful pictures.

A view of the River Walk at night..

Tomorrow: day numero three of our mini spring break trip!
