a lovely master bedroom

Inspiration boards seem to be my theme these days.

That's okay though.

My kids are gone during the day so I have no one to take pictures of and I have really enjoyed my new desire to decorate.

back to the board... I do plan on working on one room at a time so I don't overwhelm myself. I think that has been my downfall in the past. I try to do too much and then I want to scream and I quit. Not anymore. But it is still nice to see it all on the screen and what you want your end result to be.

So today I wanted to do one for my bedroom. My bedroom has been a work in progress for some time now. I have gone through so many ideas on what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do things. And just when I think I have it where I want, something changes.

I have searched the internet and read various blogs, but I could never find what I wanted. I knew the rest of my house was gonna have bright colors throughout so I wanted my bedroom to be calming and peaceful. Someplace I could retreat to when the boys are driving completely insane. Also, someplace a little girly since there is boy everywhere else.

(a) The bedding I bought at Target a while back. The picture does not do it justice. It is such a prettier color than you see. And for now I love it. But as you know that could change in the coming months :)

(b) I really would like to have a white or cream colored pillow to go on the bed. It doesn't have to be fluffy, just pretty.

(c) I already have the lamps. I got them on sale at Target a while back.

(d) I also already have the armoire and dresser that my in-laws gave me. The bed is the only thing that is getting replaced.

(e) The nightstands are my favorite part. I like the round ones as opposed to the square ones. It just adds something different to the room.

(f) I don't know why I love the rug, but I do. It's that little bit of girly I am looking for. Well that and the pretty flowers.

As for everything else... I have a vanity area and bathroom that will make match the rest of the room as well as find the perfect color of paint to grace my walls. Challenge accepted! :)

bad choice

Not too long ago I ordered this duvet cover from Macy’s after weeks of searching and thought it was perfect for my room.
Boy was I wrong!
Who is the genius that thought black bedding in a house with a white dog was a good idea? Oh ya... ME!
Let me tell you that it is not! If you have a throw blanket, the little fuzzies get all over it. If your kid gets toothpaste on it, there is no getting it out and if your dog jumps on your bed who just so happens to have white fur, just give up and walk away.
I am again looking for a new duvet for my bed.

The hunt begins for new bedding.... again! *sigh*

It only took 7 years...

... for my husband and I to get an actual bed!

But before I get ahead of myself let me tell you about my bedding.

Well... long story short I have been on the hunt for a while now for bedding that was cute, but also would withstand a little bit of grease and oil every now and then. And as much as I would like a beautiful Anthropologie duvet it just ain’t gonna happen!

So, after many hours of browsing the world wide web I cam across this lovely duvet on Pinterest of all places. And what would you know. It was on sale! So I went ahead and convinced myself to order one. You know, as a birthday present to myself and all :)

On our last visit to OKC we brought back my my new bedroom set that my sweet in laws gave me and this visit we brought back my brand new mattress set! So now I have the Sealy Embody to sleep on every night. I am so excited! The hardest part I have to say was finding sheets that I could live with until I find the perfect ones. Who would have thought I would find them at Ross for less than $25?!

So after 7 years of marriage my husband and I have an actual bed in our room.
Now I just need to move the rest of the furniture in :)

Photo Friday Week 40: Colors

I can’t believe that it is Friday again! Where did this week go?

This week for Photo Friday I took a pic of this cute Amazing Grace sign I got today. I was looking for bedding but came across this instead.

I have decided to use it as the color inspiration for my bedroom!

What ya think?

Bedroom...Check! Paint...Check! Sponge...Check!

Today I started painting my bedroom. And I have to say boy! is it a lot of work! I am exhausted... and I only got 1 wall done! I am going to do at least a wall a day until the next three are done. It is a little harder to get done with two little ones running around acting like animals :)

I have had white walls since we moved in over 5 years ago and I wanted something different. Something versatile, so that if I wanted to change decor later on down the road I could. And these sponge painted walls seemed perfect!

*Disclaimer: Please excuse me for the messy bedroom*
This is my bedroom before I painted the walls. I had started with the base coat when I realized I forgot to take a picture. The color I used for the base coat was called Antique Beige (it's a Glidden color but I had them match it with Behr paint).

Another shot of the walls. Are they ugly or what?!?

It took me all day but one wall is complete! Yay!!! I like it. I know it's not the best job out there, but I did it and I am proud of my hard work :) The color I used for the sponge painting part is called Warm Caramel (it too was a Glidden color that I had them match with Behr paint). I used 1 part Warm Caramel paint with 4 parts Behr Faux Glaze. I then used a sea sponge that I had dampened (be sure to ring out all excess water) and used a paint brush to brush on the paint and faux glaze mix. Once it was on the sponge I just went to town sponging the wall! And here it is....

Breakfast Tray

WoW! Seems like forever since I have posted! It's just been busy busy this last week. Sooo happy to be back :)

Today as I was cleaning up my room to start painting tomorrow, I saw this breakfast tray sitting in the corner collecting dust. I got it at Target a couple of year ago to use while I was reading in bed. As I was looking at it I got a bright idea DING! the light bulb went off. I had bought paint samples the other day at Home Depot, you know those 8oz. Behr ones you can make any color and are only $2.47, well I got one in Caribbean Blue because I thought that is what color I wanted to paint my bathroom. Well, I had this paint and this breakfast tray... so I decided to paint my tray Caribbean Blue and use as a bed tray once I get my room complete. And I am so happy that I did because I LOVE IT!!!!

Here is what the tray looked like before...
(I forgot to take a pic so this is the one from the target.com website)

After I primed it...

Here is my new breakfast tray in Caribbean Blue!
Love it!!!

Revive! Refresh!

That is exactly what I want to do to my bedroom.... revive and refresh! I think it would be nice to have a place to go and relax. Right now my bedroom is in bad shape. Everything is out of place and it's HORRIBLE!

I have been trying to decide what to do to our bedroom for a while now. I want it to be a place we both like. Below are a few ideas that I found...

I like the earthy tones of this one. It would be easy to match things to and you could always add color if you wanted to.

I LOVE this one! I love the teal colored walls and the yellow bedding. It's bright and cheery all year round! And most of my bedroom furniture is already black (:

And I like this one because it shows how you can mix black and earth tones together to make a really relaxing bedroom. This one is my second favorite!

Pictures make it so clear....

That I need to do something with my bedroom and vanity area!

First off I would like to say PLEASE FORGIVE THE MESS! I am one of those that will throw everything on the bed, move it and then sort everything out.

Today I decided to move all my furniture around in my room hoping to make it look bigger. I succeded, but I realized it is just BLAH! I really need to add some color and figure out what I want to do. I know I want to add lime green somewhere to give it some pop.

This is the before picture of my bedroom... horribly messy I know.

And here is the after... I do realize I need to replace my blinds, paint my walls, get some curtians, get new bedding and maybe get some bedroom furniture! Geesh, I have a lot to do.

Here is all the floor space I have now! It's great because now I can do my workouts in the bedrrom and not worry about the boys bothering me.

Here is the vanity area that I want to paint lime green. I would also paint the wood vanity black and replace the lighting.
