I {Heart} Flip Flops

Howdy Everyone!

Today is the day we get to show off our flips flops we got from Lyryn’s Flip Flop Swap.

My wonderful partner was Casey.

I had a blast getting to know her and love the fact that I can live vicariously through her seeing how I live in the desert and she lives so close to the beach :)

Thank you again Casey, I love my flip flops!

Afternoon Sunshine

I have these pesky trumpet vines that grow all over my fences.

I don’t like the actual vines themselves, but I DO like that bees are attracted to them.

And I only like bees for one reason…

they help pollinate my vegetables :)

Happy Sunday!

Growin’ Like Weeds!

I love looking back over the past few years to see how much my boys have grown.

They grow like weeds!

Looking at these pictures I can’t believe how much they have grown up.

I am extremely blessed to be able to spend my days with such smart, handsome boys.

Before I know it they are going to be all grown up with kids of their own and won’t want to spend their summers with me.

Just thought is making me tear up.

As crazy as they make me, I cherish every minute I with them.

Photo Friday Week 23: Party!

blogbutton

Boy! It feels like for-ev-er since I have done a Photo Friday!

I am so happy to be back.

This week I thought long and hard about what I should do for ‘party’. And since I have winter babies and no one I know has a birthday right now, nor have I been to any kind of party lately…

I decided to take a pic of all my 4th of July party stuff that is in it’s bucket just waiting to be put out.

Even though it is just going to be the 4 of us, I wanted to make it special for the boys.

And since we have a fireworks ban because of the drought, the buckets are for our water balloon fight :)

I hope you head over to Trina’s blog to check out all the other great photos!

Fruit of My Labor

Firstly, I would like to show you my very first tomato from one of my tomato plants.

I wish I could tell you what kind of tomato it was, but when I bought the plant it was a surprise pot because none of them were labeled.

The tomatoes don’t seem to get any bigger than the one below. They kinda look like large grape tomatoes.

My other tomato plants include celebrity and yellow tomato!

One thing is for sure, next year I am going to start this gardening thing a whole lot earlier.

I noticed the other day that I had all these little bugs on my plants and in my garden and racked my brain trying to figure out how to get rid of them.

I knew that I did not want to stray pesticides on my plants. I am doing the organic thing :)

I remembered that the last time I was at the garden center they had small containers of ladybugs. I did some research and they are a wonderful organic pest control. Did you know that one single adult ladybug can eat up to 50 pests a day! And that their wings are made out of the same stuff as our fingernails!

Jacob wanted to be out there with me while I released them.

And Michael took the pics for me and considering it was pitch black outside, I think he did a WONDERFUL job!

Thank ya Darlin’!

Add a Little Sparkle to Your Water

It has been pretty hot here in Texas.

And when I mean hot, I mean like 102* during the day or more!

So staying hydrated is a top priority, but I really hate water sometimes.

So I came up with a recipe with sparkling water that is yummy and refreshing.

Raspberry Lime Sparkling Water: Fill glass with ice, squeeze half of lime over ice, add fresh raspberries, fill with sparkling water and garnish with lime wedge.

It’s as simple as that!

And to stay cool in the heat the boys played hard in their pool in the backyard all day long.

Jacob was exhausted by the end of the day…

And Tyler was so tired that he became whiney. Almost looks like he is faking it huh?
