a little bit of randomness

As I was going through the pictures on my phone and thought I would post a few of my instagram photos.

I am hoping this holds you over until tomorrow when I post some pics from the pool :)

Our pool bag ready to go!

Tyler has a bed all to himself, yet he still chooses to sleep on the floor!?

Super cute boots that I really want, but can’t afford because I’m trying to be responsible and use my money for things that we need and not things that we want :)

cancer sucks!

I have been kind of in and our lately, but it was for good reasons I promise.

Two weeks ago my dad went in for a regular doctor visit due to problems swallowing. By the end of the day the doctors were 90% sure that my dad had esophageal cancer. The worst part was it was Friday and they would not have the results back until Monday.

Why do doctors do that?

Do they know how horrible it is to sit around all weekend awaiting test results that can change a persons life forever?!

After a weekend of praying and worrying and more praying our worst fears were confirmed...

... my daddy had cancer!

It’s still so crazy! He has been in pretty good health all my life. We were completely blindsided by the whole thing. But what do you do?

No amount of crying, whining, yelling, screaming or begging will change the diagnoses.

It has been a rough couple of weeks, but we are all getting through it. This week my mom and dad are having everything staged and re-tested so by the end of the week we should have a more solid game plan on how we are going to fight this.

I have put my faith in God and know that He is in control. This is one of those situations where no one can do anything. We have to put our faith in the Lord and let him do what it is He does. Because He is the best at it. I know no matter the outcome God’s will is being done and He will be glorified!

Now that things are not as crazy and on there way back the {the new} normal I will be back on here posting regularly. I have lots of crafts and stuff to post. And I can’t forget LOTS of pictures!

kids will be kids

Today being one of the days that I do not have any children I decided to stop and get me a quick lunch on the way home from running errands. While standing in line I noticed a woman and her five kids walk in. Yes, five kids! Well, I noticed that this mother had a bad attitude from the minute she walked in. One of the younger girls needed to go to the bathroom and she was so awful to her. She acted like it was this huge thing that her poor kid had to go to the bathroom and made her feel bad about it. Then turned to one of her other kids and said ‘she’s getting on my freakin’ nerves today!’ and then proceeded to rant about her other son watching the tortillas being made and how she just wanted to smack him for walking off.

You could see that people were uncomfortable with that was going on, but what do you do in situations like that? I felt really really bad for those kids. If she was like that in public, what is she like at home?

I won’t sit here and tell you that I have never been annoyed with my kids in public. I am sure that I have sounded like that at times, but I can tell you right now that I will make darn sure that I don’t ever treat my kids like that again. It was just horrible! And all I could think of was do I sound like that when I am frustrated? Do people think I am the crazy lady getting annoyed over nothing?

It is my boys job to piss me off and make me love them all at the same time. Even in the middle of HEB. And yes, my kids will at some point annoy me to the point I want to scream, I just need to take a deep breath and remember that they are only this small once and enjoy it!

there once was a rock...

A few weeks ago during Tyler’s hospital stay they discovered that he had a rock stuck in his left ear. Now I feel really bad that it has taken me this long to get it done, but with all the craziness of school ending we finally got it taken out. The whole time we were waiting I stressed how important it was that we DO NOT stick rocks in our ears, noses, etc. But they are boys and there will be a next time :)

Here are the boys riding in the elevator.
They thought we were going up 400 floors, but it was only 4.

I have to say that they were awesome in the waiting room!

Playing in the exam room... even though we were not supposed to.

Time to get the rock out! Things started off great,
then when the doctor stuck the extraction tool into his ear all hell broke loose.

Sad eyes :(

The rock!!!
It was a lot bigger than we all thought.

summer fun buckets

Today is the first official day of summer. Both boys are out of school and we are kicking off the summer with family movie night and pizza.

I was wanting to do something fun for the boys and last week I was reading THIS BLOG and she had put together Summer Fun Kits for her kids. I immediately knew that my boys would love it so I went to Target and started piecing together their buckets with things that they would like.

Our buckets include:

  • New flip flops
  • Sunglasses
  • Bubble wands
  • Sidewalk chalk
  • Army men
  • Water bottles with a freezable center
  • Water balloons

All put together in a bucket!

She suggested you make a Summer Fun Coupon Book, but I have not had time to put that together yet. Hopefully I will get to that before this week is up.

She also had some great suggestions on what to put in the Summer Fun Buckets, but also to put the stuff that your kids will enjoy in there. She also has lots of other awesome ideas. Check out her blog sometime!
