For the Love of Turquoise

My recent obsession with the color turquoise has turned into a absolute love for it! I can't wait to decorate my house using this wonderful color! Something about it makes me smile :) During my search of the internet today I collected my favorite photos showing how I would love to use turquoise in my home. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do.

I am totally in love with the cabinets below. I am wondering how well they would work in my kitchen?!?

I absolutly love the kitchen below. My kitchen looks nothing like it, but I am wondering how hard it would be to recreate the colors. And I could always restain my cabinets to make them that rich dark color.

And since I don't have the space like this maybe I can paint my buffet or table this color to give it that pop of color!

I reallly like the kitchen below too... oh my! there are so many ideas that are dancing in my head! I really want to put that kind of tile in my kitchen. And there they go again with the wonderful rich dark wood cabinets...

I looove this bedroom! I could see myself sleeping here every night with a smile :) on my face.

These pics below are the ones that I am looking at for my guest room/office.

An Apple a Day...

Today as I was sitting in the Dr's office (I was not eating my apple a day) to get blood drawn I saw the cutest idea for Apple Cupcakes. I decided that I was going to give my best to duplicate them...and I have to say they don't look too shabby. I am kinda impressed that they came out so good. The boys are dying to dig into them! And who knew that tootsie rolls doubled as 'stems' and 'seeds'!?! I was supposed to make the 'leaves' out of green tootsie rolls...but I was not spending $10 on a bag of candy just for 5 green tootsie rolls!

(I am thinking about making lemon, orange or grape next! Wouldn't mini cupcakes make a cute grape bushel?)

Home Inspiration

Here are some wonderful inspiration photos I got from Pottery Barn...

I love this idea for my entryway. I am wanting to paint it a neutral color and then get a small table or bench. The photo collage idea is wonderful!

I am loving the garland around the door and the lanterns with candles in them! I think I could do without the crows and and some of the pumpkins, but all in all I like the idea. Maybe with a red door?!?

I know I do not have a front porch like this... but I love it!

Officially a Preschooler

Jacob right before we dropped him off for his first day of preschool.
He was so excited!!!

My sweet baby boy is officially in preschool. He was so excited when his Daddy and I dropped him off. I of course, cried like a baby! It's so funny that men do not understand why us mothers cry when our sweet babies go off to school for the first time. Today is about getting my house clean and getting my boys on a school schedule!

Homemade Donuts

My favorite thing to make with Jacob is homemade donuts. The best part is the excitement in his eyes when he hears that is what we are making for breakfast. Here is pictures from when we made them this last Saturday morning.

Here is what you need... Oil to fry them in, a can of cheap homestyle biscuits, cinnoman sugar and something to make the holes with (I use an apple corer).

Lay the biscuits out so that you can start by cutting the holes... don't forget to heat your oil (:

Have the holes ready to go into the oil as soon as it's ready...

Then the donuts...

Here is my little helper ready to go on sugaring the donuts!

Then the donuts go into the oil...

And here is the finished product!

Yummy, warm and sugary donuts!

ENJOY!

Dreaming of Decorating and More Kitchen Inspiration

As you have noticed I have been going on and on and on about me making over my kitchen. Now most of you don't know me, but this is waaaay out of character for me. I was never the one who wanted to decorate or anything. And now here I am... really excited and dreaming about paint colors on a nightly basis or how to make the most of my space!

I am wanting to paint the kitchen so I am able to decorate easier throughout the year (I have gotten into this mood about doing centerpieces and putting up a small tree for Christmas...), but Michael really likes the walls red and wants to keep them. So right now I am trying to find something that just makes me scream 'I WANT MY KITCHEN TO LOOK LIKE THIS!'. Oh but I have!!!! I love the black cabinets that Layla had over at The Lettered Cottage. I also love her white cabinets that I posted about here. You see my dilemma now?! That's okay, by the time I get back next week I could have changed my mind completely! (:

This kitchen is from Coastal Living and I like it but I don't think that I can see it in m house.

I like the counter tops in this kitchen, but I think that is about all I like about it : /

Michael wants to do the kitchen kind of like this. I like the black and white tile, I am just wanting something calmer and more relaxing since I spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

I really like the color of the cabinets here. I think that they would go perfectly with my white appliances. And it has that comfy country feel to it :)

I found this one right before I started this post. I like how they have the whole kitchen set up with the red walls ad the black and white curtains.

I think after looking at all of these pictures and actually thinking about it I ((think)) am going to go with my original idea :)) Michael is just going to have to like the fact that I am going to paint the walls...maybe...I mean I am letting him pick out the living room furniture : P

And I can't wait to tell you all about the fabulous things I find for the house while on vacation!

Kitchen: The Beginning

These past few days I have been busy busy busy with decluttering my house. And it has been wonderful! Everything that I have posted on craigslist.com has all sold!! I even sold my Tahoe!
(:

The majority of my Saturday I spent cleaning my garage and I am kicking myself in the be-hind for not taking before and after pictures. Because the after is waaaaaaay different than the before! I filled up my whole trash can with stuff that needed to be thrown away.

Well.... yesterday I decided to declutter my kitchen by getting rid of unnecessary furniture and moving a few things around.

Pic of the before...

I think that the kitchen hutch just took up a lot of space and you couldn't really store anything in it. And someone got a steal when they bought it for only $10.

And here is the after...

I moved another piece that I had in the kitchen to use as the microwave stand for now. I am going to take an old dresser and turn it in to kind of a buffet. It is a Pier1 wood dresser with 8 drawers that have the wicker looking fronts. I have decided to do is paint the dresser black and stain the wicker fronts. I plan on using it for table linen storage and as a microwave stand until I get the microwave above my stove. I can't wait to show you those projects!!! (:

I still have to finish my laundry room too. I am bouncing around between the laundry room and kitchen due to funding the projects right now. After I finish both of those I am going to paint my kitchen table black and paint my kitchen cabinets black as well. I have not decided whether to paint my kitchen walls yet or not...but I think I am going to pain them a beige-y color so I can go with any color scheme.

I have lots more to post in the days and weeks to come! Hope to hear feedback from all of you (:
